Every
angle on a Danforth anchor contributes to its performance. A 32 degree
shank angle is assured, as the shank comes to a rest on reinforcing
yokes inside the angled crown plates. The inward sloping crown forces
its thin, sharp flukes into the bottom, while the I-beam fluke
construction provides extra safety with its strength and durability.
Excellent holding in sand or sand/mud bottoms, but limited or no
holding in grassy, rocky, or clay bottoms.
